Donations
and Fundraising - Thank You:
Over the last month we received approximately £2000 through
many kind donations and various fundraising events.
This included
money raised at the Carnegie Hall, £30 from East Lothian County
Council and £45 from Irene through the sale of merchandise.
Liam raised £32. Mr McLure handed in £320 in respect
of donations in memory of his late wife. John Mac has raised £177
so far - from his sponsored cycle in New Zealand. Wendy handed in
£70 raised in the Borders General - through sale of FACE merchandise.
We received
a fantastic £300 from the Primary 7 children of Canmore Primary
School in Dunfermline. The impact the Lapland trip has is just amazing.
Single Connection
has held events - incl. an auction at their recent disco dance -
to raise funds for FACE. Craigentinny Bowling Club has nominated
us as the beneficiaries for their charity day. We will also benefit
from proceeds from a show in the Churchill Theatre (by the Balerno
Drama Club) - as well as a line dance in the Touch Community Centre.
The support
we get - from so many different sources - continues to amaze us.
It is so much appreciated.
How
FACE Is Going To Help:
We
received a number of requests and over the weeks ahead will provide
for the oncology wards in the WGH (1) new duvets for Ward 3 (2)
20 permalux duvets and 80-100 duvet covers for Ward 5 (3) a new
profiling bed for Ward 4.
For Queen Margaret
we are progressing with them the provision of (1) 3 new profiling
beds and (2) 6 Parker Knoll reclining chairs.
For the Borders
General, the kind donations received in memory of Betty Knox will
be earmarked to provide an ongoing supply of fresh flowers for the
new Oncology unit and daily newspapers.
Fiona / John
will be contacting the Royal Infirmary and Maggies' Centre - to
see if FACE can help with relaxation sessions onsite in the WGH.
A letter will
shortly also be sent to all peripheral clinics to see where FACE
can help.
We received
a lovely letter of thanks from the 'Young Person Oncology Group'
following their last outing - and funds will continue to be made
available for this excellent initiative.
Carnegie
Hall Concert - 2 March 2003:
The
concert was a great success and a fine tribute to Douglas. £1860
was raised on the night split between two of the charities Douglas
supported - FACE and the Haemotology Unit. Thanks to everyone involved
with the show and to those there on the night.
