Donations
and Fundraising
We
received a number of kind donations over the last two months
totalling just under £5000. Thank you.
Darren
Howard and colleagues in HSBC held a baking day – raising £165
for FACE. This amount was kindly matched by HSBC. Thanks to
all at HSBC for their continued support.
Maureen
Wallace sent in a cheque for £100 raised through a funeral
collection. Bobby & Marlyn Shanks of Dumfries sent in a
donation for £320 in memory of Campbell.
Margaret
Blair of North Berwick held a charity race night and raised
£1150. We received a donation of £330 from Jacqui
Goodfellow. The BMC Ladies Darts Team handed in a cheque for
£150.
Iris
Reilly was at our AGM in May and handed over a cheque for £1,250
– raised through a fundraising dinner held by the Hibs' Former
Players Association. We were delighted Iris was able to come
along to the meeting.
Keith
Gilchrist asked everyone who attended his 50 th birthday party
to donate money to FACE – and raised £550. Thanks Keith
and congratulations.
We
received a kind donation of £450 from Mrs R Craig in memory
of her husband. A retiral collection for FACE was taken at his
funeral.
Liam
Clachers won the Individual Fundraiser Award at the recent Standard
Life Chairman's Award Ceremony – in recognition of his work
for FACE and Breast Cancer Care. John Macaulay and Lesley Coyle
of FACE were there to see Liam receive a cheque for £1000
– which goes to his nominated charity FACE. Congratulations
LC.
Lee
Hogg and colleagues at Ethicon have raised £1,983 for
FACE through a series of fundraising events. Alan Ormiston met
Lee, friends and young Darren who was with us on the Lapland
trip last year – and we hope to see them at the Christmas Fair.
How
FACE is Providing Help
Work
is due to begin on the new aromatherapy room in the MacMillan
Centre. Estimated cost £10,000.
Work
on the renovation of the Bereavement Suite at the WGH is now
underway. This is the biggest initiative FACE have been involved
with. Estimated cost is £40,000.
We
have provided funds to provide new curtains, duvet covers, a
sofa and chairs for the Pentland Lodge (formerly Ward 5). Estimated
cost £3,000.
We
have provided a new CD player for one of the radiotherapy treatment
rooms.
The
new play materials for Ward 2 in the Sick Kids are being ordered.
Estimated cost £500.
The
new ice machine for Ward 3 has been ordered. This will cost
approximately £3,000.
The
new ‘fact file' for the Treatment Floor have arrived. We have
also provided new Bacup booklets for Queen Margaret Hospital.
We
were approached to look at providing funds for the renovation
of the clinical room in the Andrology Unit (RI). We await details
of their plans .
In
conjunction with Forrester School – who are kind supporters
of FACE - we are providing help with a trip for a young family
impacted by cancer. Cost £100.
We
have provided two chairs for the Traquair Room at the Sick Kids.

Festival Cavalcade
With
Jim kindly providing the bus again and Susan arranging the world's
largest banner – put Sunday 3 August in your diary.
AGM
– Trustees
At
this year's AGM – Amanda Moffat stood down after 6 years sterling
service. John Macaulay accepted the nomination to re-join the
board of Trustees – after a year off for good behaviour.
