Minutes of the Annual General Meeting – 26 May 2008

•  Review of 2007 Minutes

Alan read out the minutes from last year's meeting. These were taken as read.

•  Correspondence

There was no correspondence for the AGM.

•  Secretary's Report

Alan provided a summary for last year. There continues to be great interest in the work we do – and it is evident that people really appreciate that we look to use as much of the funds raised as possible to provide help. In that respect we are indebted to the sterling work undertaken by the Trustees and Friends of FACE who attend the meetings each month. We are also indebted to the many kind donations received over the year – and to the continued support we receive from individuals and organisations. There has been such diversity in terms of fundraising events – always uplifting even in sad times. The Christmas Fair was once again a great success – and an opportunity to catch up with everyone. This year there were around 100 people helping out – many who have chipped in over a number of years and love the occasion. Pat, Irene & Wendy continue to do a sterling job selling FACE merchandise. The Lapland trip organised by John was once again a wonderful experience for the children. Fiona & Hamish deserve great credit for looking after the treasurer duties. We continue to do more communication via E Mail and will look to build on the website created by Hamish over the months ahead. Our links with Charity Choice continue to bring in donations through legacies. We move into the next year with many excellent initiatives on the go and continued belief that we can make a real difference.

 

•  Treasurers Report

Hamish passed round a copy of the detailed expenditure over the last year. It showed that the money raised was £62,300.05 and we spent £65,261.43 on various projects. The balance at the year-end is £107,929.31.

Hamish went through the breakdown. Tthere are number of excellent initiatives on the go where the outlay is likely to be around £60,000.

 •  Election of Trustees

Following the last AGM – Susan Thomson and Craig Purves were elected as Trustees. This year Amanda Moffat stood down after completing six years as a Trustee and John Macaulay was re-elected after a year break. Thanks to Amanda – enjoy the well deserved break.

 •  Election of “Ex-Officio Trustees”

Sadly Lillian Matheson passed away earlier this year. Barbara Anderson was asked to be an ex-officio Trustee and additional signatory – establishing a link with hospital staff. It was agreed that with Bernie Byrne now based in London and working with the Maggie Centre she would no longer be an ex-officio Trustee.

 

AOB - Donations / Fundraising / Initiatives –

full details will follow in the next update. Keep the 10 th August free for a fundraiser at Eskmill Bowling Club. Unfortunately Craig's plans for a fundraising event at the Jam House have been cancelled due to circumstances beyond his control. Susan outlined plans for the new FACE banner, which apparently will cover 4 football pitches and half of Russia. All Trustees are to send photos to Hamish – for update of the website.
